Why Stay at Shangri-La Le Touessrok, Mauritius?

Shangri-La Le Touessrok is one of Mauritius’ most distinctive luxury resorts. Set across 34 hectares on the island’s east coast, it combines six secluded white-sand beaches, 185 rooms, suites and beachfront villas, extensive leisure facilities and access to its own private island, Ilot Mangénie.

What makes the resort particularly compelling is the range of experiences available within one stay. Guests can combine time by the lagoon with golf, wellness, water sports, refined dining and private-island experiences, without the property feeling limited to a conventional fly-and-flop beach holiday. The scale of the resort also means it can work for couples, families, golfers, celebration trips and small private groups.

Nomadical Tracks works with selected hotels and specialist travel partners around the world, choosing properties for the quality and depth they add to a journey. Shangri-La Le Touessrok has been selected because its facilities allow us to build more complete Mauritius holidays around individual interests, whether that means golf, wellness, gastronomy, family travel or a special occasion.

A Mauritian Icon, Reimagined

Shangri-La Le Touessrok combines more than four decades of Mauritian hospitality with recently refreshed interiors designed by The Odd Duck. Its rooms, suites and villas use natural textures, contemporary furniture and black-and-white photography of traditional island scenes to create a modern resort that still feels connected to Mauritius.

The property extends across 34 hectares beside the lagoon at Trou d’Eau Douce, with six secluded beaches spanning approximately four kilometres. Rather than being centred around one hotel block and beach, the resort unfolds across gardens, waterfront accommodation areas and small islets, giving guests a greater sense of space and variety.

For Nomadical Tracks, its appeal lies in that balance: an established Mauritian resort with a clear identity, substantial facilities and a contemporary standard of accommodation.

The Rooms

Accommodation at Shangri-La Le Touessrok is arranged across Coral, Hibiscus and Frangipani, alongside larger suites and three-bedroom beachfront villas.

Coral offers 56m² Ocean View and Beachfront Rooms, while the Coral Beachfront Suite provides 120m² of space. Hibiscus includes junior, family and signature suites ranging from 65m² to 130m², making it well suited to families and longer stays.

Frangipani offers some of the resort’s most distinctive accommodation, including beachfront junior suites and a 196m² two-bedroom beach suite. Frangipani and Signature Suite guests receive personalised in-suite check-in, daily à la carte breakfast at Coco’s and a €150 resort credit per room, per stay.

For maximum privacy, the three-bedroom beach villas include butler service, a private chef, chauffeur-driven buggy transport and in-villa breakfast options.

Nomadical Tracks can help identify the right category based on space, location and how you plan to use the resort.

Mauritius Golf

Championship Golf Across Two Courses

Shangri-La Le Touessrok is one of Mauritius’ strongest luxury golf resorts, with access to two contrasting 18-hole championship courses: Ile aux Cerfs Golf Club and Anahita Golf Club. Resort guests can receive one complimentary green fee per person, per day, subject to the applicable stay terms and booking conditions.

Ile aux Cerfs was designed by Bernhard Langer and occupies its own island across the lagoon. Complimentary boat shuttles operate from the resort jetty, making the journey part of the experience. Anahita, designed by Ernie Els, follows two loops of nine across a former sugar plantation, with mountain and lagoon views.

The two-course arrangement makes Le Touessrok particularly suitable for dedicated golf holidays, couples with different interests and small golf groups. Nomadical Tracks can build the stay around preferred tee times, course transfers and wider Mauritius experiences, while confirming current inclusions before booking.

Escape to Ilot Mangénie

Ilot Mangénie is Shangri-La Le Touessrok’s private island, reached by boat from the resort and open daily from 9am to 5pm. It gives guests a second setting beyond the main property, with quiet beaches, lagoon views and a relaxed beach restaurant and bar.

Lunch is served à la carte, with fresh salads, artisan pizzas and rum-based cocktails among the featured options. The island is designed for unhurried days by the water, but it also supports more active experiences, including guided eco-kayaking through the mangroves.

For guests staying several nights, Ilot Mangénie adds valuable variety without requiring a full-day excursion elsewhere in Mauritius. It is particularly well suited to couples, families and groups who want a private-island experience that remains closely connected to the resort. Nomadical Tracks can incorporate it into a wider stay built around golf, wellness and eastern Mauritius.

Dining Across Mauritius, India and Japan

Shangri-La Le Touessrok offers five restaurants, each with a distinct setting and culinary focus. TSK is the resort’s main dining venue, combining Mauritian flavours with international dishes and interactive food stations. Safran centres on Indian cuisine, with tandoor cooking and freshly baked naan, while Kushi specialises in Japanese dining, including sake and teppanyaki experiences.

For more relaxed beachfront dining, Coco’s serves Mauritian dishes and locally sourced seafood overlooking Hibiscus Beach and the lagoon. On Ilot Mangénie, guests can enjoy an à la carte lunch of salads, artisan pizzas and rum-based cocktails in a private-island setting. Sega Bar adds evening entertainment, local music and cocktails made with Mauritian rum and tropical fruit.

The variety makes the resort particularly suitable for longer stays, when choice and atmosphere matter as much as the quality of the food.

Wellness Beyond the Treatment Room

Wellness at Shangri-La Le Touessrok extends beyond a traditional spa appointment. Chi, The Spa offers a range of holistic treatments, including Biologique Recherche therapies, Icoone micro-stimulation, Reiki, Iyashi Dome sessions and indoor or outdoor massages.

Guests can also build movement and recovery into the wider stay through personal coaching, yoga, Pilates and Zumba at the resort’s fitness centre. This makes the property particularly well suited to travellers who want to balance golf, water sports or active days with structured downtime.

For Nomadical Tracks, the strength of the wellness offering lies in its flexibility. It can support a dedicated spa break, a golf-and-wellness holiday, or simply provide restorative time within a broader Mauritius journey. The combination of treatments, fitness and outdoor activity allows guests to shape the experience around how active or relaxed they want the stay to be.

Who Shangri-La Le Touessrok Is Best For

Shangri-La Le Touessrok suits travellers who want a luxury Mauritius resort with enough depth to support different interests within the same stay. Couples can combine beachfront accommodation, private-island time and spa treatments, while families benefit from spacious suites, a dedicated children’s pool and kids’ programmes for ages 4–12, with separate activities for teenagers.

The resort is also particularly strong for golfers, multigenerational families, celebration trips and small private groups. Two championship golf courses, extensive water sports, padel, tennis, varied dining and larger villas mean guests do not need to follow the same daily schedule.

Nomadical Tracks recommends Le Touessrok for clients who value choice, space and high-quality facilities. Travellers seeking a very small boutique hotel or an adults-only retreat may prefer a different style of property.

More Than a Beach Holiday

Shangri-La Le Touessrok offers a broad range of land and water-based activities, making it a strong choice for travellers who want more than time by the pool. Water sports include kayaking, snorkelling, paddleboarding, sailing, water skiing, wakeboarding, glass-bottom boat trips and eco-kayaking. On land, guests can use the floodlit padel and tennis courts, try archery, play beach volleyball or join fitness activities.

The resort also offers more distinctive experiences, including guided e-bike tours, vintage wine tastings in the Vinoteca cellar, private Champagne cruises and honey harvesting with the resident beekeeper. Mangrove kayaking around Ilot Mangénie adds a nature-led element to the stay.

This variety makes the resort well suited to active couples, families and mixed-interest groups, where each traveller can shape the day differently without leaving the property.
